How to Prepare The Perfect Bath

When getting away to a spa isn't feasible, you can get creative at home and create your own spa experience right in your own bathroom. Here's how:

1) Send your spouse and kids to the movies or make sure that if they stay home, they stay quietly occupied in a room as far from the bath as possible. Have everyone swear an oath to not disturb you.

2) Set the mood. Candles offer a soft, relaxing light. Depending on whether you plan on using scented bath oils or bubbles, you can choose candles that feature relaxing scents like lavender or sandalwood. Don't double up on scented candles and bath oils—too much fragrance can overwhelm your sense of smell.

3) Choose the right props. You might want a loofah sponge to refresh your skin, a Microdry Memory Foam Ultimate Luxury Bath Pillow to cushion and cradle your head comfortably. You can even add a rubber ducky if you find it relaxing.

4) Cue up the perfect soundtrack. Think early Brian Eno, Enya, Mozart, Branford Marsalis—any soothing tunes that provide a perfect backdrop to simply zoning out.

5) Refreshments. Just because you're surrounded by water, you can still get thirsty. Choose your favorite elixir of relaxation—a cup of tea, lemon water or a glass of wine if you prefer.

6) Pour it on. Let the hot water flow along with any bubbles or bath oils you prefer for pampering your skin and revitalizing your senses. It's OK to go hotter than usual, but remember, very hot water really dries out your skin. In terms of choosing bath oils, go with lavender to chill out, eucalyptus and tea tree oil to boost your immune system, Rosemary to stimulate your senses.

7) Soak. Relax. Unwind. Think warm thoughts. Think no thoughts.

8) When you're ready to emerge from the water, be sure to still pamper your senses. Step from the bath onto a Microdry Ultimate Luxury Memory Foam Bath Mat. Not only does it cushion your feet in softness, but it retains your body heat to keep your tootsies warm. It's the perfect gentle transition back into the real world.

9) Wrap yourself in the Microdry Performance Towel. First it will embrace you in softness and then you'll notice how it simply absorbs the water on your skin without you having to rub hard, which can irritate and over-dry it. Then simply pat dry wetter areas on your skin using firm pressure if you want to add a massaging effect to drying off.

10) Linger in the warmth of the bathroom to continue the spa like experience. If your skin needs additional moisture, apply your favorite cream and gently pat it onto your skin. Again, rubbing, even with moisturizer, is counterproductive because it can deplete your natural oils.
